Case #1

Case No. 01 — Nativo Coffee Roasters

BOSTON, MASS. - PORTFOLIO EDITION - EST. 2025

The brand lacked a CLEAR visual identity and had limited online PRESENCE. I was tasked with CREATING a cohesive design system that HONORED NATIVO’S craft roots WHILE PREPARING IT FOR retail and direct-to-consume expansion.

Challenge

Research & Discovery

I began by studying Colombian coffee culture — patterns from traditional weaving, earthy tones of the Sierra Nevada, and the visual rhythm of coffee farms.

The intent was to translate this origin story into a contemporary identity system that felt organic, tactile, and adaptable across print and digital formats.

Early sketches explored woven motifs; iterations simplified them into a clean geometric mark representing craft + modernity.

The logo features a stylized letter "N" with an arrow, symbolizing movement, heritage, and authenticity.

NativoLogoLight

A clean, modern typography approach was chosen for versatility across digital and physical applications.

Packaging Design

  • I incorporated an abstract representation of the Colombian sombrero “vueltiao”, a symbol of craftsmanship and tradition.

  • An outlined map of Colombia was added to reinforce the brand’s origins.

  • I included an outlined “vueltiao” over the valve, with the phrase "Aromas of Colombia" above it, enhancing the sensory and cultural connection.

The design balances modernity and heritage, using a sophisticated yet approachable color palette.

The layout is structured for clarity, ensuring essential product information is easy to read.

Labels

  • Each of the four coffee flavors was given a unique color scheme and icon, differentiating them while maintaining brand cohesion.

  • The label designs ensure a premium, artisanal feel, reflecting the brand’s high-quality offerings.

Website Design & E-Commerce

  • I designed and developed a fully functional e-commerce website where customers can explore and purchase Nativo’s coffee.

  • The website features:

    • A clean and intuitive layout for an optimal shopping experience.

    • A mobile-friendly design for accessibility across all devices.

    • Storytelling elements to highlight Nativo’s connection to Colombian coffee culture.

Brand Extensions & Social Content

To complete the ecosystem, I developed merchandise, promotional materials, and social-media templates.

Each extension reinforces Nativo’s core idea: celebrating Colombian roots through a modern, minimalist lens.

Extending the brand beyond the bag

The rebrand positioned Nativo as a premium micro-roaster with a unified visual language.

ENHANCED packaging and STRONGER DIGITAL presence EXPANDED its REACH, ESTABLISHING A CONSISTENT BRAND STORY ACROSS RETAIL AND E-COMMERCE.
